Game Night

Tonight we went to the ILA to watch daddy play Lacrosse.  The kids love going there- they get to run around and chase each other and no one tells them to stop.

Daddy did an awesome job and the team only lost by one goal.  It was a really close game.

Cleaning House

Today was a busy day.  It always seems that as soon as I start something it leads to another and another...  Today's project was the Dining/Guitar room- to me its a dining room- where we have our meals- to my husband it is where he stores his guitars and other music.  This proves to be a challenge often- I don't mind having the guitars in the room- they are like art and I think it is unique to have them in our dining room.  This being said- I don't always appreciate the clutter that follows- the gig bag, cd's, albums, arts and crafts the kids are working on- it is definately the all purpose room in our home.

I was able to repurpose a few things and make the room look a bit more organized.  I only hope that it can stay this way for a bit.

Next step was the dreaded toy room - each child has a toy box.  Gray never looks in his and Sophia is constantly looking and dumping things in hers.  We always try to go through them every few months to get rid of broken toys and donate any toys that are not played with.  They are always willing to give up so much and are happy when I tell them it goes to kids without. 

2 bags to donate and 3 bags of garbage - all in a days work.

Lucky snow day

Today was an unusual day in the Bomberry home.  Everyone of us had a snow day - even daddy.  It was a much needed day to just stop and do what we wanted instead of running around.
I had success on Ebay and spent too much time on Etsy...
Sophia played in the snow with me, daddy shoveled the snow and helped others shovel snow, and Graydon just had a great day relaxing.

Tomorrow we will awake refreashed and ready to take on what lies ahead.  Thank you mother nature for this day.

2011 the new journey

So far this has turned out to be a great year. I've made some changes in my life and am hoping to continue on this new journey and see where it leads.
I recently started to go to the gym- I have never been part of a gym before- we shall see how it goes. I have some great ladies who have also joined with me and together we will motivate each other. That's the plan anyway:)

beautiful beach

This weekend was spent with a long awaited trip to the beach. The kids were so excited to get their hands and feet into the sand and lake. It was so fun to watch them play and remember what it felt like to be a kid. The beach was followed by supper. What a great night.

Canada Day

What a nice family day we had yesterday. Little interruption from the outside world. The kids played and played swinging, riding, jumping. Daddy bought a new picnic table which we couldn't wait to eat our diner on. That night we watched fireworks with the neighbours. The kids covered in blankets. Sophia and her friend hiding under an outside table with the dog- too noisy. What fun!

Strawberries

Graydon and I went for his first strawberry picking experience on Monday. At first he thought it was pretty neat but that quickly turned to no work just eating. Can't say I blame him though- who could resist a field full of berries. I managed to pick 2 flats and that afternoon was spent with my mom making strawberry jam.

Today

Monkey

We have had a long journey to this point but I feel we are finally headed in the right direction. We have an answer for Graydon and we can help him. Graydon has been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (a mild form of Autism). Although I felt mixed emotions about it I believe that I can be a better parent to him now that I know how his mind works. I love you little monkey.

Growing up

In the past two weeks my baby turned 4 (going on 14) and my son lost another tooth. This has been a definate shake for me to realize that they are growing up and fast. These milestone events in their lives remind me that they are their own people and they are growing up.

Graydon when asked about loosing his tooth thought that he should get $20 because it was a big tooth- smile- obviously the tooth fairy couldn't give every child that kind of money or he would be broke.

I asked him what he thought of the tooth fairy and this is what he said- he believes the tooth fairy is himself and he comes when he is asleep and leaves money and gum under his pillow. Then takes the tooth to the tooth house and puts it with the others- "I believe there are like 600 or so."

Too cute and he can't stop looking and showing everyone his new toothless smile.

Swingset complete

I haven't seen my children in a while and the picture can give a clue as to why. They have been over excited about running to the backyard every chance they get and playing till they can't play any more. Swinging, jumping, climbing so much fun to be had. A big thanks to daddy who worked so hard in the heat to get it done. We are very lucky to have you.

Swingset excitement

Today was a big day in our house. Daddy brought home a swingset extrodinaire. There were 2 very excited children awaiting his arrival and ready to play as soon as he arrived.
It is so amazing to be a kid and think the world is there for only you and everything should happen when you expect it to. After some explaining that it comes in pieces like a big puzzle and needs to be assembled they moved on to the next exciting thing- going to school.

Springtime- what could be better

Well here we are the beginning of another spring. Somehow its that time of year that makes you feel like a kid again. And when kids get their boost of extra energy that you couldn't possibly imagine would be any greater.
That time of year when the daylight is neverending and the sunshine kisses everything it touches.
Ice tea on the back porch with a good book and listening to the sounds of new life all around.
